Every year Irish politicians gather in Washington DC for St. Patrick’s Day. There is usually a large reception at the White House where gifts and pleasantries are exchanged with the President of the United States. This is a long-standing tradition, going back decades.
However, in light of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, that would not be possible without the funding and support of the Biden Administration, we in Americans for a United Ireland, call upon all Irish politicians, including Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Tánaiste Micheál Martin, An Uachtarán Michael D Higgins, and Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald to reject any invitation to the White House unless a Ceasefire is called. To do otherwise would be to turn a blind eye to the massacre that is unfolding.
